Director's Notes

Congratulations to all of our HCMS Band students for a wonderful Spring Concert!  Just a few more days in the semester to wrap up another year.  Please take a moment to review all of the important information below. 

DUES (Instrument Rental/Fair Share/Percussion)

We currently have $3000 in upaid dues (fair share, instrument rental, etc.) still out.  You should have received an email reminder this week if there is anything you owe.  Please help us collect these payments as soon as possible so we can close our books for the summer.  You can pay via cash/check (HCMS Band).  Fair Share can be paid via MySchoolFees and Rental/Percussion can be paid via Square.  Just contact Ms. Parker if you. need a link. 

Monday, May 11 - Beginning Band Performance at HCES

• Our Beginners will be performing for HCES in our Cafeteria on Monday morning.  

Monday, May 11 - Last Day With Instruments

• Monday will be our last day with instruments in each band class.  

• Students who are renting instruments through the school and will be returning to band need to have access to instruments over the summer so they do not fall behind.  Summer Rental is $40 and can be paid by cash/check (HCMS Band).  Payments by credit card can also be handled via Square - just contact Ms. Parker for a link.  Please submit this payment as soon as possible this week so we can check instruments out over the summer.  

Friday, May 15 - HCMS Band Banquet

• The Band Banquet will be in the HCMS Cafeteria on Friday, May 15 from 6-8 p.m.  Please ensure you have sent in payment for your Google Form registrations.  

SPRING TRIP SURVEY

We are currently looking into Spring Trip options for Spring 2027.  If your student is planning to continue in band, please take a moment to review and answer the survey questions HERE to assist us with planning.  Nothing has been finalized at this time, but we do appreciate your input as we plan.  This is not a commitment in any way - just a way to gather interest and ideas. 

Beginning Band

SUMMER RENTALS  Students who are participating in band next year must rent their instrument over the summer.  Without access to an instrument over the summer break, students will come back completely behind when we return in August.  If you are renting from the school, summer rental is $40 ($20/month).  Please send in your payment via cash/check (HCMS Band) by May 8 to rent for summer.

MATERIALS Please ensure that your student has their black band binder, red Tradition of Excellence Book and at least 3 good reeds (clarinet/saxophone players only).  

MAKE MUSIC Thanks to a generous grant from the HCMS PTA and our Fair Share donations, we have access to a new software called Make Music!  This software includes our Tradition of Excellence book, several of our songs we are currently preparing as well as HUNDREDS of other fun songs to explore.  Students can listen to and play along with their individual part or the band recording as they practice.  We will be ensuring everyone is signed up this week - please encourage your student to utilize this excellent practice tool at home!  

Symphonic Band

JAZZ BAND There will not be any more Jazz Band practices this year.

FUTURE HHS BAND MEMBERS  Rome New Year's Parade 2028 (Survey Update) - 7th and 8th grade families!

ALL STUDENTS AND PARENTS WHO ARE IN GRADES 7-10, PLEASE CLICK HERE TO FILL OUT THIS ANONYMOUS AND NONBINDING SURVEY REGARDING THE ROME TRIP. THIS IS FOR PRELIMINARY PLANNING.

We are going to Rome for the 2028 New Year's Day Parade!  The approximate dates for the trip are December 27, 2027-January 3, 2028.

Huntsville High School Band Spring Training!

Who?  Required of all 8th Graders who plan to do any band class

Where?  Huntsville High School Band Room

Time?  4:00-7:00 pm (there was a mistake in a previous communication - the correct time is 4-7 pm).  HJHS Band students will be dismissed at 6 pm on Monday, May 11 because of their rescheduled Spring Concert from last week.

Parent Meeting for all new member parents:   Tuesday, May 19th at 7:00 pm in the HHS Bandroom
