HCMS Band welcomes our rising 6th graders!
Thank you all for a phenomenal week for the HCMS Band! The students represented themselves so well at the concert and had terrific performances! Special thanks to our Band Board/Banquet Committee for a wonderful first Band Banquet! Such a wonderful way to close out a fantastic year!
NO INSTRUMENTS NEEDED THIS WEEK No instruments needed this week as we are in the middle of instrument, equipment and uniform inventory.
SUMMER CHALLENGES! - Starting in June we will have weekly music challenges for rising 7th/8th grade band members posted in our HCMS Band Parent Facebook Group! Prizes are available! Students can participate whenever able due to their summer schedule. Not required - Just a fun way to get in a little playing and enjoy some great summer tunes! (If you are not on our Facebook group, please join by searching for "HCMS Band Parents" and answer the questions provided. If you are not on social media and would like an email about the challenges, please contact Ms. Parker this week.)
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED We have a few positions on our Band Parent Board coming open for next year! Please contact our Band Parents at hcovemsband@gmail.com if you are interested in serving!
SCALE POSSE (BEGINNING BAND) - If your beginning band student completed three scales to join Scale Posse and did not receive their reward on Friday, please be sure they come to see Ms. Parker this week!
SUMMER INSTRUMENT RENTALS If you are renting an instrument through HCMS and your student is planning to continue band next year, you will need to rent an instrument for the summer. We ask $40 for summer rental, which works out to our usual $20/month. Please email Ms. Parker for details. It is crucial students have access to an instrument over the summer so they do not completely fall behind when they return in August.
BAND PAYMENTS DUE - We still have several outstanding fair share and rental payments that we need to collect. Emails and invoices have been sent out and we will begin phone calls this week. Please help us collect these payments quickly! We depend on these payments to provide opportunities for our students.
HHS BAND REMINDERS (RISING 9TH GRADERS) - - Remember there is Spring Training at HHS on Monday (4:15-6:45 p.m.) and Tuesday (4:15-6:45 p.m.) this week.
*Spring training is for all 8th grade students who plan to be in band at Huntsville High School. This includes both concert only and marching band students*
HHS Band Parent/student meeting Tuesday at 7:00 pm. We will be covering lots of things related to both concert and marching band! This is for ALL 8th grade students and parents who plan to be a member of the Huntsville High band next year.
